Why Wait?

Why Wait?

It’s 2013 and at the beginning of a new year many people take the time to start anew by writing down new found goals or changes they would like to make in their lives. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing; however we must  not wait for a new year or a new day to make changes in our lives. Time is one of the most valuable things in life that we can never get back. Once a moment has passed it becomes only a memory and there’s no turning back. Take a moment to think on the following scripture from

Proverbs 31:25

She is clothed with strength and dignity,
and she laughs without fear of the future.

With this being said, we should never fear the future! Meaning that if we don’t fear the future why would we ever be afraid of changing or stepping into the unknown? Sometimes we have to stop making excuses for ourselves and step out on faith knowing that God’s got us 🙂 There are times in life when we will have to be patient and wait on the Lord, but for the other times where we are in control we must act. How can we consciously pray for change in our lives but we ourselves are not willing to change? Change often times requires some type of discomfort but the bible tell us this:

Romans 8:18

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Who wants glory? Who wants discomfort? I’m guessing you said no to the discomfort right but yes to the glory? In order to get to the glory there is always a discomfort involved. You can’t get that promotion on your job without putting in the extra work. The extra work often times causes you to miss out on other things but in the end it’s worth it right? You get the picture I’m trying to present. I would like to encourage you today to write your goals for the year. This doesn’t have to be a long laundry list. Maybe about 5 core goals or so for the year and take the time to write out in more detail how to better achieve each of those goals. After you have done this it’s probably a good idea to follow up monthly to track your progress. I can’t tell you how amazing it feels to check of your goals once they have been completed. Then you will be able to add those items to your Achievements list! Let’s set 2013 on fire by our actions and not our words! It’s time to do better! Until next time 🙂
