Know your Worth

It’s 2017 and my wish for whoever reads this is to have a Happy New Year! No matter what last year provided or lack thereof, you now have an opportunity to move forward. In order to progress in any area of your life, knowing your worth is essential. As you consider your goals for the year as well as make any vision boards, I implore you to think of your self worth! What things make you happy, sad, or is just flat out intolerable? Everyday that we wake up is new opportunity for us remove any and all negativity from our lives. Negativity sometimes may include our own self image, thoughts, or words from our family, friends, co-workers, etc.

Recently self-worth has been a hot topic amongst my friends and I. It’s been a hot topic because there are so many people who don’t value themselves or have simply lost it. No one starts off this way but over time and possibly dealing with the wrong people can cause you to forget whose and to whom you belong. We are children of God who were designed specifically and specially. The bible says:

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you [and approved of you as My chosen instrument], And before you were born I consecrated you [to Myself as My own]; I have appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” ~ Jeremiah 1:5(AMP)

The next time you get to feeling down and out remember the scripture above and remind yourself to give thanks just as this scripture states below:

“I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.” ~Psalm 139:14 (AMP)

I know that many of these things I’m suggesting seem trivial, but I assure you positive affirms really do work. The bible is filled with plenty of scriptures that state God’s love and promises for your life. Don’t let anyone tell you that you aren’t special or worthy! You are! I hope this has been helpful and again remove anything toxic from your life as you begin to regain your self-worth 🙂 Until next time…

Don’t Worry Be Happy

Have you ever had so much on your plate that you didn’t know how you were going to accomplish it all? I have some advice for you, tackle it one task at a time. There are many times in life where things can get overwhelming and worry begins to seep in. It is important that in these times you lean on the word of God and remember that he’s got your back. You are not alone. The bible tell us:

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

Peace is given when we learn to trust God and cast our cares. It is also important to have a good support system where you have people who love you to help you during these difficult times. Whether you are worried about a job, school, relationship, etc., remember that there is no need to worry. Whatever that’s going to happen will happen. The only thing you can do is control yourself and your actions. Trusting in God during these times and situations will always have you to come out on top. I encourage you to have faith and think positive as well as be a blessing to someone else. Today go out and encourage someone else. Positive energy is contagious 🙂

Until next time……

Happy New Year!

Believe, Transform, and Renew

It is my prayer for you reading this, that your life in 2016 be filled with all the love, joy, and blessings that your heart desires. Every new year many people seize this as an opportunity to start anew. What often times happens is a lack of follow through. I want to encourage you to not only write down your goals for 2016 but to also give yourself deadlines/milestones where you can privately measure your success throughout the year. Without any action you are only left with words. Encourage yourself daily by signing up for a bible reading plan, creating a vision board, signing up for group fitness classes, cultivating healthy relationships (family, friends, romance, etc.) as well as any other activities that suit you. Pray without ceasing and remember this:

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. ~Romans 12:2~

It’s not too late for your dreams to come true! In 2016 Let your light shine 🙂

Until next time…………………

Faith led Life

Faith it till you make it some say! I say faith it forever. Life is full of twists, turns, and numerous ups and downs. It will be your faith in God that will always get you through. No matter how dark or narrow the path we must always trust God. Faith is what the bible describes as pleasing to God.

“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” ~ Hebrews 11:6~

I encourage you today to dream big, have big faith, and to take take all of the restraints off of yourself. We only get one life so why not live a faith led life. Living this type of life can only lead to one thing, Blessings 😉

Until next time……….

Doubt

Has someone ever told you something that made you have doubts about who you are? For instance, you are too mean, you are always doing too much,  etc. Remember to know who you are in Christ! Each of us may be a lot of things but who gives someone else the right to judge you? There’s a difference between good criticism and just being downright mean or judgmental. The power of life and death is in the tongue, people who love and care about you should be speaking life your way and not death. Make sure you are around people who really value and love who you are. The Bible says:

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?  How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” ~Matthew 7:1-5~

Although everyone may not remember the scripture or concept above it is your job to cast down any negativity that people may send your way. It is not your job to please man. Is it our jobs to do what is pleasing to GOD! The bible says it is impossible to please GOD without faith (Hebrews 11:6). We must have faith in what GOD says about us. We are each made in his image; fearfully and wonderfully made! Don’t let any words someone has to say about you interfere with your day or life. People are people and although at times they think they are helping, the truth is they may not be. We must stay encouraged and in the word of GOD. If someone is continuously saying negative things, I encourage you to take inventory, to really see if the pros outweigh the cons. Sometimes we hold onto the very things that GOD wants us to let go! We must trust in him and pray for guidance. Just because you make a decision to remove someone out of your life doesn’t mean you love them any less. It just simply means that you love yourself more 🙂 In 2015 I encourage each of you to think positive thoughts on purpose, to be kind on purpose, and love yourself and others on PURPOSE! Until next time 🙂

When to let go

Sometimes in life there comes a time where you have to let things go. Otherwise, your life becomes infected with toxicity. In life, there will be plenty of times where disappointment occurs, and the good news is you can say no and stand up for yourself. You don’t have to hold onto a dead-end relationship just because you’ve known a person for a long time. You can say NO MORE! There is a season for everything under the sun. Make sure you aren’t holding on to seasonal things permanently. You don’t want to block your blessings. How can God reward you for being a good child or steward, when you aren’t even doing what he’s asked of you? Before 2014 comes make sure you let GO of any negativity in your life. Do not be afraid to step into the unknown. Move forward boldly and confidently because of who you are in Christ. If you have faith, believe greatness will occur in your life before it’s actually tangible.

Psalm 37:4

Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

As you prepare to let go of the negativity remember this:

Isaiah 43:18

“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
As you embark upon your new journey or lifestyle, do not dwell in the past. Be thankful for the good and the bad times because they have molded you into the person who you’ve now become! Until next time 🙂

Jealousy & Envy

Jealousy and Envy are dangerous attributes to have. More often that not, when we run across people who possess these qualities we are often wondering why. Why don’t they like me? Why are they doing this? When we need not worry about why because the bible says,” For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”(Ephesians 6:12) Many times people may not know why they are doing the things they are doing. It isn’t our jobs to figure out why something is happening but rather how are we going to handle what’s happening. Even in the midst of a bad situation or person we can choose goodness. Just because we are receiving negativity doesn’t mean we need to get into the petty game of tit for tat. Turning the other cheek has saved me many days. The bible tells us to love of enemies. Love is a powerful deterrent to negativity. Who ever said “Do the right thing” failed to mention that doing the right thing doesn’t always feel good. Whenever someone who is jealous or envious of you comes, follow these instructions:

Matthew 5

Eye for Eye

38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’[h] 39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. 41 If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. 42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

Love for Enemies

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[i] and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

If you pray for and love you enemies God will be bless you. Never be envious of other people, remember what God did for one he can do for another. All things are possible if you believe! I want to leave you with one last scripture before I go, stay faithful and do what God tells you in regards to dealing with jealous and envious people.

Psalm 110:1

110 The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

JOY

Have you ever woke up and just been happy? This year of 2013 I’ve been consumed with unspeakable JOY in my heart. Not because my life is so wonderful but simply because spiritually I’m in a good place. How did I get here you might ask? Well it’s actually quite simple, I began to see the blessings in my everyday occurrences. The bad day at work turned into I’m gainfully employed and working in my field. Being single turned into I have peace and will wait on the Lord. Every little thing that someone else might see as something terrible I have chosen to see as good. The Bible says this about trouble:

James 1

New International Version (NIV)

Trials and Temptations

2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
9 Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. 10 But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower. 11 For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich will fade away even while they go about their business.
12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
16 Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. 17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. 18 He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.

I hope that today you will consider changing your outlook on life. It’s all about perception. Is your glass half empty or half full? Remember tomorrow isn’t promised so make it your mission to appreciate life, the good and the bad. Until next time 🙂

Strength

Difficulty is bound to come in this life. The key is how to have that strength to endure it. The older I get the less care free I am. There are things that way heavy on my mind such as money, bills, love, etc. The good news is that even though I have many challenges that I face daily the Lord is with me.

The key to having that work/life balance is strength. I don’t mean strength in our own abilities but strength in Christ. We need to know that we know he is our source. The bible says:

Psalm 28:8

The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.

If God is our strength, during good or bad times we must have faith that he will see us through. If we can have strength in Christ and be faithful servants, God promises to take care of us. We must cast our cares knowing that he care for us(1 Peter 5:7)

I encourage you today to tell your fears, doubts, and troubles how big God is. Tell them you may be weak but in Christ you are more than a conqueror. Today choose to have the faith to believe that all things are truly possible with God and muster up the strength to continue to press on through each day. If you do these things I guarantee you will see positive changes in your life. It’s all about attitude. Until next time 🙂

What are you giving up?

Lent began this past Wednesday and is also known as “Ash Wednesday”. I’ve decided to participate in lent this year because when I think about all the blessings that have been bestowed upon me, surely I can give up my wants in order to get closer to God by clearing out some of the unnecessary items in my life. I plan on giving up reality tv shows, fast food, and social networks. During this time I’ve also signed up for a daily devotional reading plan via the Youversion Bible app. Sacrificing things we love can provide clarity on life and on the things that are true of value in our lives. I hope to continue to get closer God and maybe permanently cut out some of the items I no longer need in my life. If you are interested in learning more about lent you can go here for more information: https://www.youversion.com/notes/11248951 . What are you giving up this year? Until next time……. 🙂
