Why Wait?

It’s 2013 and at the beginning of a new year many people take the time to start anew by writing down new found goals or changes they would like to make in their lives. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing; however we must  not wait for a new year or a new day to make changes in our lives. Time is one of the most valuable things in life that we can never get back. Once a moment has passed it becomes only a memory and there’s no turning back. Take a moment to think on the following scripture from

Proverbs 31:25

She is clothed with strength and dignity,
and she laughs without fear of the future.

With this being said, we should never fear the future! Meaning that if we don’t fear the future why would we ever be afraid of changing or stepping into the unknown? Sometimes we have to stop making excuses for ourselves and step out on faith knowing that God’s got us 🙂 There are times in life when we will have to be patient and wait on the Lord, but for the other times where we are in control we must act. How can we consciously pray for change in our lives but we ourselves are not willing to change? Change often times requires some type of discomfort but the bible tell us this:

Romans 8:18

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Who wants glory? Who wants discomfort? I’m guessing you said no to the discomfort right but yes to the glory? In order to get to the glory there is always a discomfort involved. You can’t get that promotion on your job without putting in the extra work. The extra work often times causes you to miss out on other things but in the end it’s worth it right? You get the picture I’m trying to present. I would like to encourage you today to write your goals for the year. This doesn’t have to be a long laundry list. Maybe about 5 core goals or so for the year and take the time to write out in more detail how to better achieve each of those goals. After you have done this it’s probably a good idea to follow up monthly to track your progress. I can’t tell you how amazing it feels to check of your goals once they have been completed. Then you will be able to add those items to your Achievements list! Let’s set 2013 on fire by our actions and not our words! It’s time to do better! Until next time 🙂

Hurt Again

No More Pain

Hurt occurs in one’s life multiple times over a life span.It is how we deal with hurt that matters most when issues of the heart come into play. I believe when dealing with matters of the heart and getting past hurt we must first remember that:

Proverbs 18:21(KJV)

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

With this being said, it is imperative that once we have been hurt we immediately start speaking life (positiveness) into our lives, so that those words can begin to manifest. A lot of our moods come from our thoughts and words. By believing and speaking positive things into existence, and having faith (Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.) we are automatically giving ourselves permission to be happy and to also have hope.

Being hurt can also make us bitter. Bitterness is a terrible thing and can make us hard-hearted. To get our sweetness back we must do something that seems hard but really isn’t, and that’s to FORGIVE! Forgiving others doesn’t mean that we forget or have to continue to allow them in our lives, but it does allow us the opportunity to free our hearts and minds of how we feel about that person/actions. In this life we are all very imperfect and it is important to recognize that people make mistakes including YOU! If forgiving is hard for you to do, just take a moment to think of all things you have done wrong, and how God has continuously forgiven you without any condemnation. If you are wondering how many times you should forgive someone then here is a scripture for you:

Matthew 18:21-22 (KJV)

Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

Lastly to move past hurt we must keep it moving! Just because we have been hurt doesn’t mean life is over! In fact in all honesty, it seems as if in most situations of discomfort we are pushed to higher levels within our lives. It’s amazing how every setback is only a comeback 🙂 Keep believing! We must continue to push forward and remember this:

2 Peter 1:3-11 (MSG)

Don’t Put It Off

Everything that goes into a life of pleasing God has been miraculously given to us by getting to know, personally and intimately, the One who invited us to God. The best invitation we ever received! We were also given absolutely terrific promises to pass on to you—your tickets to participation in the life of God after you turned your back on a world corrupted by lust.

So don’t lose a minute in building on what you’ve been given, complementing your basic faith with good character, spiritual understanding, alert discipline, passionate patience, reverent wonder, warm friendliness, and generous love, each dimension fitting into and developing the others. With these qualities active and growing in your lives, no grass will grow under your feet, no day will pass without its reward as you mature in your experience of our Master Jesus. Without these qualities you can’t see what’s right before you, oblivious that your old sinful life has been wiped off the books.

So, friends, confirm God’s invitation to you, his choice of you. Don’t put it off; do it now. Do this, and you’ll have your life on a firm footing, the streets paved and the way wide open into the eternal kingdom of our Master and Savior, Jesus Christ.

I hope this has given some insight on how to move past hurts in your life and has been of some comfort to you. Until next time 🙂

Emotions, Emotions, Emotions!

How can they be controlled!?!? What to do?!?!?! How to stay strong and not be offended?!?!

Remember Life Isn’t Fair! Can you imagine if every day of our lives went perfectly and as we assumed they should go? I don’t know about you but that sounds pretty boring. Even though trials and tribulations arise we need to keep our hearts and minds focused on Christ! Our problems are never bigger than our GOD! When in doubt, sadness, and in confusion praise him in advance. Emotions can fill us all so full sometimes that soon we cannot see past them. Think about the last time you were emotional, How long did it last? Did your behavior based on your emotions appropriately address the situation? If not then you may be in your emotions too much. Remember this:

Psalm 30:5

For his anger lasts only a moment,
    but his favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may stay for the night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning.

With this being said, although we may have many days of lives that may be filled with short lived sadness it can never compare with all of God’s glory and goodness that he spreads in our lives daily. How often do you think about how blessed you are? The next time you start getting to emotional start thinking of all that you are. Do you have a home, clean water, food to eat, family, a job, a car, healthy, etc? God is faithful and all that he promised he will do! The bible says:

Numbers 23:19

God is not human, that he should lie,
not a human being, that he should change his mind.

The next time you get in a situation of discomfort of any type that causes an emotion you’d rather not experience, consider it God’s way of trying to take you to the next level. He’s already working things out behind the scenes for your good! Until next time 🙂

Don’t be weary

Have you ever felt unappreciated? Weary? Hated on? Judged? Well I have a word for you 🙂 The bible says

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. ~Jeremiah 29:11~

Don’t those words just touch your heart? God has a plan for each of our lives and it’s a plan to prosper and not harm us! Knowing this let it be a reminder of how good and awesome his grace is. In spite of being judged or feeling unappreciated, he promises that he will gives us hope and a future! If you are weary the word also tells us this:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” ~Matthew 11:28-30~

We are all very strong through Christ who strengthens us. Every day will not be easy, but we must promise ourselves that we will think positive and keep trying because we know God’s promises. Each day I encourage you to wake up each morning and spend time with God. He is our source and strength. Claim victory in advance!Speak life and not death over yourself and others. Starting today work on becoming a better you. In becoming a better you others will soon follow! Until next time 🙂

Many times in life we ask questions like why me or why am I going through this? We are not necessarily trying to question God but what we are really often times seeking is understanding. Remember God has a divine purpose and plan for us all. Rather than asking why me or why am I going through this, instead we should say Lord I know that you are in control and won’t put more on me than I can bear. Lord, I trust you and trust that you are working things out for my good! We should really be turning all of the negatives into positives. I know this may be a little easier said than done but is it really? Keep your sights set on how big God is rather than how big your problems may seem. I promise you that whatever you are going through someone has already been through or they may be going through worse. With understanding comes wisdom and if we keep our sights set on God rather than our problems we will all be just fine! Enjoy your day and see scripture below regarding understanding.

Proverbs 2

Moral Benefits of Wisdom

1 My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
2 turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding—
3 indeed, if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
4 and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
5 then you will understand the fear of the LORD
and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the LORD gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
7 He holds success in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
8 for he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful ones. 9 Then you will understand what is right and just
and fair—every good path.
10 For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
11 Discretion will protect you,
and understanding will guard you.
12 Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men,
from men whose words are perverse,
13 who have left the straight paths
to walk in dark ways,
14 who delight in doing wrong
and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,
15 whose paths are crooked
and who are devious in their ways.
16 Wisdom will save you also from the adulterous woman,
from the wayward woman with her seductive words,
17 who has left the partner of her youth
and ignored the covenant she made before God.[a]
18 Surely her house leads down to death
and her paths to the spirits of the dead.
19 None who go to her return
or attain the paths of life.
20 Thus you will walk in the ways of the good
and keep to the paths of the righteous.
21 For the upright will live in the land,
and the blameless will remain in it;
22 but the wicked will be cut off from the land,
and the unfaithful will be torn from it.

Have you ever felt overwhelmed, worried, stressed, or fearful? As we tend to get older the strains of life get larger and harder to deal with. Stress is often a big factor in having anxiety or worries. I am writing this to let you know that trouble doesn’t last always. Throw your cares and worries on the Lord! Let him fight your battles! Be Victorious rather than a Victim!  Don’t try to understand the impossible. Remember each new day we awaken it is a blessing and also a new day to do God’s will. The bible tells us:

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” ~Matthew 6:34

God has a plan for each and every one of our lives. When worried or stressed find comfort in the word of God. Psalms 25 is a good verse for comfort and remember everyone is going through their own set of issues or problems. The key is to learn how to cope and deal with adversity when it comes your way!

Psalm 25

In you, LORD my God,    I put my trust.
2 I trust in you;
do not let me be put to shame,
nor let my enemies triumph over me.
3 No one who hopes in you
will ever be put to shame,
but shame will come on those
who are treacherous without cause.
4 Show me your ways, LORD,
teach me your paths.
5 Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.
6 Remember, LORD, your great mercy and love,
for they are from of old.
7 Do not remember the sins of my youth
and my rebellious ways;
according to your love remember me,
for you, LORD, are good.
8 Good and upright is the LORD;
therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.
9 He guides the humble in what is right
and teaches them his way.
10 All the ways of the LORD are loving and faithful
toward those who keep the demands of his covenant.
11 For the sake of your name, LORD,
forgive my iniquity, though it is great.
12 Who, then, are those who fear the LORD?
He will instruct them in the ways they should choose.[b]
13 They will spend their days in prosperity,
and their descendants will inherit the land.
14 The LORD confides in those who fear him;
he makes his covenant known to them.
15 My eyes are ever on the LORD,
for only he will release my feet from the snare.
16 Turn to me and be gracious to me,
for I am lonely and afflicted.
17 Relieve the troubles of my heart
and free me from my anguish.
18 Look on my affliction and my distress
and take away all my sins.
19 See how numerous are my enemies
and how fiercely they hate me!
20 Guard my life and rescue me;
do not let me be put to shame,
for I take refuge in you.
21 May integrity and uprightness protect me,
because my hope, LORD,[c] is in you.
22 Deliver Israel, O God,
from all their troubles!

Be blessed! Until next time 🙂

Come Near

James 4:8

Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Everyday and at any time you can and will be tested. Whether it be your patience, time, trust, or love at any given time during the course of your day, it will be tested. Rather than getting upset or worrisome why not draw near the Lord? Put your faith in him and know that he is God. He will supply all of your needs. Unlike you and I, God’s love stays the same. He never falls out of love with us or is so upset with us that he removes us from his life. For me knowing that I have this just simply brightens my day. This love is truly unconditional and everlasting. As the word states above draw near him and he will draw near you. Today and everyday I will draw near the Lord for all the pains I may endure will only make me a better person. Perseverance is key! Here is another scripture to think about apply daily to you lives when in doubt.

James 1:2-7

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

If you believe than surely it will be achieved! Until next time 🙂

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

So many times in life you find that as you are growing, so many others are not. As we get older our lifestyles should change and advance. We should get better with time. Our life experiences should mold us into more mature individuals who want more out of life than the same old thing. Many of us want more out of life, have dreams, and are willing to work to get there. The problem majority of the time is that there is no guidance. People are lost and have no vision. They know what they want but don’t necessarily know how to get there. Too busy focusing on the lulls of today rather than how today can prosper their future. With this being the case, most find themselves in an insanity period doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results.
Proverbs 12:15
The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice.
Sometimes we ask God or influential people in our lives for advice or guidance, but when it’s given we do not have an open heart to receive the criticism. The bible tells us the Lord loves those who he corrects. Understand that the truth hurts but if you don’t face it who are you ultimately hurting?

Job 5:17

Blessed is the man whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.
I would like to challenge each reader who may read this and can identify with the words I have written to write your goals out, research your dreams, and proceed in obtaining them with all of your might. Life is a test but when taking a test you must all was study or plan ahead. If you fail to plan then you plan to fail. It’s go time people! Let’s get it 🙂
Until next time………

Matthew 10:31

So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
How often are the expectations that we set for ourselves or others somehow never attained? Disappointment is a terrible and overwhelming feeling. The feeling of failure and regret.  Whether it be with yourself because you aren’t where you would like to be or with that loved one who just doesn’t get it, remember it’s okay to have a moment of sadness but you must keep moving. The word tell us:

Psalm 30:5

For his anger lasts only a moment,
 but his favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may remain for a night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning.

Stay encouraged and remember that no one always stays on top. We all must crawl before we will walk. Do not to look at others situation and wonder why yours may not be going as well as theirs seems. You might see the glory but don’t know the story. Everything that glitters isn’t gold and Trouble doesn’t last always! I encourage you to take all those feelings of disappointment and turn it into something good. We are all conquerors!

Romans 8:28

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Until next time 🙂

Wants, Needs, & Desires

In life often times we put our goals into three different categories: our wants, needs, and desires. Depending upon which category we put our goals determines the course of our action and how it is obtained. Three essential words are defined below :
Want- to feel a need or desire for; wish for
Need- a requirement, necessary duty, or obligation
Desire- to express a wish to obtain, ask for, request
When wanting to achieve success it is imperative that our goals are in sync what what we are actually trying to accomplish. For instance, if a masters degree in your area of expertise will help to you to achieve success then that would fall into the want or need category.
The main thing when specifying your goals is to not only write down a plan to implement but to follow it as well. It is always easier to talk about what is needed to be done than doing the actual action itself. It’s a new day and 2010 can bring infinite possibilities and blessings if only you let it. Remember to “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.(Isaiah 43:18)”
As you go forth this year know that everything is within your reach. When in doubt allow the Lord to guide your steps and remain prayerful with an open heart and mind. “In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps. (Proverbs 16:9)”
Until Next Time 🙂
